Grammy winners to shine at Miami's Sunfest music festival 2016
Miami is about to shake and roll once again as West Palm Beach is hosting the 34th edition of the five-day SunFest music festival (April 27-May 1) that will feature international stars such as Duran Duran, Alabama Shakes, and Death Cab for Cutie, and many Grammy Awards winners.
Since 1982, SunFest Miami is an annual music festival that takes place in downtown West Palm Beach during the first week in May, attracting over 175,000 visitors. This year, the festival will take place on 3 stages, will feature over 50 artists and will be concluded with its staple fireworks show, one of the largest in Florida.
Duran Duran and Alabama Shakes to headline Sunfest, ZZ Top canceled
Eight Grammy Awards winners, and a bunch of nominees as well, will be present this year at Sunfest, yet Alabama Shakes (3 Grammy awards this year), The Roots, Train, Duran Duran, Evanescence, Meghan Trainor, Rick Springfield, Salt N’ Pepa are just some of the foremost artists and bands on that will perform in West Palm Beach this weekend.
Other headliners include Steve Aoki, Death Cab for Cutie, Slightly Stoopid, G-Eazy, Fitz and the Tantrum, Bastille, and Capital Cities. Unfortunately, the legendary blues-rock band ZZ Top, announced earlier in this year's Sunfest, has canceled their appearance for medical reasons and is to be replaced by the rockers of O.A.R. on Saturday.
Despite an impressive lineup, music isn't the only reason to attend Sunfest 2016. The traditional Juried Fine Art & Craft Show will showcase over 150 artists in various disciplines, from painting to sculpture and jewelry. Scattered along the waterfront, the Juried Fine Art & Craft show will be open everyday starting at noon, except on Friday (5 pm - 10 pm).
Sunfestivities to include floating bars, new Eatery and a huge fireworks show
Among other "Sunfestivities", thirsty attendees will enjoy welcome breaks away from the stage mayhem thanks to three "floating oasis" bars dispatched along Flagler Drive's seawall, featuring rhum-based cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages.
Hungry bellies will turn to the brand new "Eatery" where the Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival organizers have prepared special culinary experiences and a variety of food vendors, including Nashville Hot Chicken, Tropical Pineapple Chicken, or Island Noodles.
The Jupiter Kidzone will welcome families for a "mini-SunFest" featuring fun-filled activities such as face painting, bounce houses, photobooths and sandcastles.
Finally, SunFest 2016 will be concluded with a spectacular fireworks show - one of the largest on U.S. East Coast - on Sunday, May 1 at 9 pm with music being streamed on local radio Gater 98.7.
